He's a New Jersey transplant (and before that transplanted from New York), who moved to Chicago, is a friend and appointee of Rahm Emmanuel, preaching in Snuffy Pfleger's church, and his last name is McCarthy. Basically, there is nothing right with this man.
Am I the only one who sees the irony of him lambasting all sorts of racist institutions while he spends his career enforcing the modern day slave codes that essentially keep the law-abiding, majority black citizens of Chicago unarmed?

Racist gun controllers/banners.
Just a couple of examples.
Stu Levitan:
hapiday
Apparently in the minds of the gun controllers/banners, black people are tools to be pulled out whenever they need to scare people or guilt people into supporting their agenda.
Stu Levitan:
I think it would be fun to have 2 or 3 dangerous-looking black guys testify next week in support of concealed carry. The more gang-banger the better. Let the committee know EXACTLY who they'll be letting carry guns.

I think if there is a large influx of Blacks, Latinos and other people of color joining the NRA and talking openly about their 2nd amendment rights there might be action to look at the NRA differently.

Marc Lamont Hill still doesn't get it.
I've discussed his position on the Second Amendment before and it looks like he's made absolutely no progress:
That is correct, but he later says:
Banning gun show sales, private or otherwise is non-negotiable. There are already laws dealing with straw purchasing, interstate trafficking, felons, and the mentally ill.
As for "weapons of mass destruction that have no sporting or self-defense purpose", who makes the decision as to what has and doesn't have sporting or self-defense purpose? Someone like Carolyn "Shoulder Thing That Goes Up" McCarthy? As far as I am concerned, any firearm can have sporting or self-defense purpose if I decide to give it that purpose.
The Second Amendment gives citizens the right to keep and bear arms not only to safeguard their homes and property but to stave off the possibility, albeit remote, of a tyrannical government.
That is correct, but he later says:
We must support laws that ban gun show sales, straw purchases, interstate gun trafficking and other loopholes that enable handguns to get into the hands of criminals. And I find no good reason to allow private citizens to buy weapons of mass destruction that have no sporting or self-defense purpose - or to let felons or mentally ill people get hold of firearms.

No Guns For Jews.
Another great piece from JPFO:
If you want to check out the whole movie, just click the video and go t their Youtube channel. While you're there, also check out the equally fabulous "No Guns For Negroes".

Marc Lamont Hill gets so close, but falls short.
Marc Lamont Hill, being a protege of Bill O'Reilly, is the last person you'd ever expect to support the right to keep arms.
Very well put, but sadly he goes completely off the rails in the next few paragraphs:
In other words, American democracy is underwritten by the possibility that everyday citizens can fight back if the government no longer acts in the interest of freedom and justice. For Blacks, who have never received the full protection of the State, such a right must be viewed as an indispensable nonnegotiable component of complete citizenship.
...
Although today’s gun control laws are facially neutral, they continue to disempower and literally disarm poor communities of color. Over the past 20 years, many states have imposed gun permit laws that allow police and other state agencies to determine which individuals are “worthy” of gun ownership. Gun bans against public housing residents, expressly designed to prevent violent crime, have served to disarm poor Blacks almost exclusively. While rural white communities have done little to encroach upon the gun possession rights of citizens, majority-Black urban centers like Washington, D.C. and Chicago have imposed draconian anti-gun laws on the community. Regardless of intent, these laws have a clear and disproportionate impact on poor people of color.
Very well put, but sadly he goes completely off the rails in the next few paragraphs:

"It's about white males in America feeling threatened..."
From Buzzflash:
Race baiting has always been one of last-ditch tools in the gun controller toolbox. MSspinBC has done it. The VPC does it once a year like clockwork. And scores of assorted talking heads, commentators, and bloggers do it. They try to paint any effort to protect the 2nd Amendment from further encroachment as some christian, right-wing, white-male movement when reality is to the contrary.
Otis McDonald (the plaintiff in McDonald vs Chicago)is a black man. Being that the majority of Chicago's population is comprised of black people, the Chicago gun ban disproportionately affected black people. And as a result many black people applaud the Supreme Court's decision:
For far too long the gun controllers and their sympathizers have been exploiting the black community's legitimate concerns of racism by painting 2nd Amendment advocates as racists, neo-nazis, klansmen, etc. As a result many black people become reluctant to speak up for and exercise their 2nd Amendment rights, achieving the gun controllers goal of scaring more people out of exercising their rights.
So the real story is not about "white males in America feeling threatened". It's about the gun controllers feeling threatened as they lose the stranglehold of fear they have had over the black community for so many years.
It's about white males in America feeling threatened by becoming a minority and the gun is their last psychological reassurance of entitlement power against an encroaching demographic change in our democracy. After all, the City of Chicago allows citizens to own rifles, so there never was a ban on guns in Chicago; there was a ban on a certain type of gun, which didn't even exist at the time the Constitution was written.
But it is the handgun that makes so many white males feel impregnable, as if they were riding around with a turret gun in a Hummer.

Before Black History Month ends...
Make sure you watch JPFO's short film on the racist roots of gun control, "No Guns for Negroes". It's the Black History that you won't get in even the most liberal of schools.

A good reason to carry on campus...
"I don't feel too safe walking by the woods," said Edwards, a 19-year-old black student from Canton. "There's woods everywhere. And somebody could be out in them, and I don't know."
School officials will be flexible with students who don't feel safe on campus? I wonder if they will be flexible enough to allow those with concealed carry permits to carry on campus?
Of course the school has beefed up "security" by adding more cameras, because no one has ever been killed on camera.

Gun Guys playing the race card again.
Apparently, it's time for their yearly, "Black People Should Support Gun Control" post. It's the same story as usual: Out of all ethnic groups, black people are the most likely to get shot to death, which on the surface is true.
However, as always, they ignore the fact that not only is a black person the least likely to own a gun, they are also most likely to be killed by another black person. In other words, there are other ethnicities out there that own more guns and manage to kill not only fewer of each other, but fewer people in general.
That means guns aren't the problem. The real killers in the black community are the higher rates of poverty, low quality/no education, drug use, fatherless homes, and gang involvement.
They didn't get it last year. They didn't get it the year before last. They didn't get it this year. Maybe they'll get it next year. I doubt it though.

Gun control and bigotry.
Some people tend to believe that just because someone was a victim of bigotry in the past, they can't be bigots themselves.
JadeGold's comments in green, mine in red:
It doesn't sound so ridiculous when you have proof.
ADL engages in stereotyping, bigotry against gun owners.
JadeGold's comments in green, mine in red:
Before I give AztecRed a little history lesson on bigotry, think it important to note that many groups who actively support gun control are Jewish: the American Jewish Committee, the Anti-Defamation League, B’nai B’rith, the Central Conference of American Rabbis, Hadassah, the Jewish Labor Committee, the National Council of Jewish Women and the Union of American Hebrew Congregations--to name a few.
...
So what we have here are the leading groups of people who were (and are) victims of genuine bigotry supporting gun control.
No one said minorities couldn't be bigots themselves. The long-standing animosity between both blacks and jews should stand as testament to that. So it's no surprise that you can find minority groups that are also for gun control.
Your answer appears to that because virtualy all the major US Jewish and African-American organizations strongly support gun control--they are all bigots. Thus, virtually all Jews and African Americans are bigots because most align themselves with these organizations.
Have you any sense of how ridiculous you sound?

2009 Hall of Shame
1. Jimmy Carter - Apparently thinks anyone who owns one of the most popular, yet least abused firearms in the nation wants "to kill policemen or go to a school or workplace to see how many victims we can accumulate before we are finally shot or take our own lives." Who would have thought a peanut farmer would have a peanut brain?
2. MSNBC - A black man carries a gun and becomes an angry white person through the magic of television.
3. Eric Holder - Mexico, a country with a corrupt government and an even more corrupt police force has GTS. Apparently, the solution is to ban American's guns. Because if you ban guns in America, the drug cartels (organizations that own speedboats, submarines, airplanes, and helicopters) will never be able to get guns anywhere else. It's brilliantly stupid. No wonder Eric's been put into Joe Biden's soundproof room.
4. Fort Benning - Terrorists also eat food. Therefore, anyone who eats food is a terrorist.
5. Jim Darnell - With friends like this, who needs Josh Sugarmann? A real, live, breathing concern troll. At least someone was smart enough to delete his tripe before it cost them their entire subscriber base.
Mark Twain once said, "The trouble isn't that there are too many fools, but that the lightning isn't distributed right." Personally, I don't think there is enough lightning.
So for 2010, may the lightning be both plentiful and accurate. Especially around Washington D.C.

Racism and gun control meets again.
At Pandagon, a blog entry about creating sperm in a lab is as good a time as ever to complain about "paranoid, racist, NRA gun nuts". After all, they haven't had much opportunity to do so lately:
Also check out the rest of their gun-related posts.
Aside from many of the posts being completely devoid of fact, it gives a good insight into the average leftist mentality behind gun control, where crime is of lesser concern than the evils of armed christian white men who all hate women and minorities.
From what I can tell, all these came from the right wing press, so it isn’t hard to figure out what’s going on here. The more invested members of the dominant class are in maintaining their oppression of others, the more they have elaborate, paranoid fears that the Other will rise up and kill them one day. I have no doubt, hailing as I do from Redneckia, that the gun nut culture---at least the NRA paranoid version, not just people who like to own guns and shoot them at targets, but have no interest in worrying that Obama is going to take their guns away---stems from a deeply embedded racism. That’s why there’s so much nonsensical talk about the statistically low dangers of home invasion while you’re at home. Guess what race they imagine the home invader to be. It’s not conscious, but the ever-present fears of black criminality in this particular set of white people goes straight back to their own stranglehold on white privilege, which is so strong they assume that it will all end in violence.
Why else do you think the fears that Obama specifically will take their guns have such a hold on their imagination? You got that fear with Clinton, but not even close to the same degree. I’m lucky that I don’t spend much of my time around racist rednecks, but friends of mine who have to for work will say that yeah, it’s a fear they talk about non-fucking-stop.
