Oklahoma governor signs bill that expands self-defense rights.

Business owners, managers and employees soon will be able to defend themselves when they have a reasonable fear they face death or great bodily harm.

Gov. Mary Fallin on Monday signed into law House Bill 1439, which expands the right to use deadly force when in fear of imminent peril of death or great bodily harm. It takes effect Nov. 1.

Rep. Steve Vaughan, the author of the measure, said he filed the bill partly because of a pharmacist who has been charged with first-degree murder after shooting a masked robber six times in May 2009 inside an Oklahoma City pharmacy.

You now have the same right to self-defense at work as you do at home... Unless you work in a school, federal building, or any other government mandated Gun Free Zone. It's a start though.

The irony of Gun Free Zones knows no borders.

As many as 20 pupils are feared dead after a gunman opened fire in a primary school in western Rio de Janeiro.

"There is blood on the walls, blood on the chairs. There are 15 to 20 dead I think," said De Macedo, who was covered in blood. "I've never seen anything like this. It's like something in the United States."

Yes. It is like something in the United States where we also have the dreaded "Gun Free Zone". I wonder if like the United States, Rio also has those little signs with the gun crossed out, declaring that the rule of law is used to enforce defenselessness within their schools?

Gun show fail.

You'd think before discussing an issue, you'd at least make a small effort to not be completely wrong about the issue. Apparently, that's asking too much of Brady Campaign member Joan Peterson:

So if loaded guns are prohibited at gun shows, they should be prohibited in other public places as well. If law abiding gun owners are willing to leave their loaded guns at home when going to shop for more guns, surely they can leave them at home when they go to the shopping malls or out to eat.

That's simply not true. There is a blanket prohibition that applies to guns that are being displayed, sold, or handled by the public. But by law, gun shows are no different than gun stores, shopping malls, restaurants, or any other retail establishment. You can carry a loaded gun as long as you are in compliance with the law and the property owner's rules.

There oughta be a law!

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — A 20-year-old student pulled out a revolver and shot another man in the thumb during an argument on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University, authorities said Monday.

Police said Macklin has been charged with carrying a weapon on school grounds, aggravated assault and reckless engdangerment.

Well, I guess there is a law. Are the gun-controllers/banners right about guns on campus? That allowing students to carry will result in more campus shootings? Or is it more likely that those who are inclined to break the law are already carrying and using guns on campus and that allowing law-abiding to students to carry on campus won't result in an increase of on-campus gun violence?

Known violent criminal brings gun into a Gun Free Zone; Commits more violence. Luckily someone with a gun was there to stop him:

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – A gunman calmly walked up to a podium, spray painted a red "V" with a circle around it on a wall and opened fire at school board members Tuesday, sending people scrambling and diving for cover. A security guard soon ran in, exchanged shots with and wounded the man who then killed himself, police said.

Here is the non-shocker:

State prison records show Duke was charged in October 1999 with aggravated stalking, shooting or throwing a missile into a building or vehicle and obstructing justice. He was convicted and sentenced in January 2000 to five years in prison but was released in January 2004.

My opinion is that if you can't be trusted to own a gun, you can't be trusted to live in free society. To some, that may sound extreme. But if the price of letting violent people walk free is further erosion my 2nd Amendment Rights, then by all means keep violent people locked up. And if were not going to keep violent criminals locked up for our safety, let's do it for their safety. Because more often than not, violent criminals have their lives violently ended.

How does a gun free school campus become more dangerous?

When the system that's supposed to warn you about criminals on campus doesn't warn you.

Oklahoma State University sends a campus-wide alert about a gunman near campus, but not everyone got it. The suspect shot a student in the leg then ran away. OSU says it sent an alert to 20,000 students and employees. About 1,000 of them never got the call. The University is not sure if a glitch is to blame, or if some people did not sign up for the alert.

I wonder if the person who was shot was one of those who failed to receive an alert. I must admit though that a failure rate of 5% isn't that bad.

Even if the police are outside of your front door, they still can't protect you.

'Deadly delay': Police wait while mother, sons slain

The District police department policy on forcible entry caused a "deadly delay" as officers waited for a supervisor outside an apartment while a mother and her two young sons were being stabbed to death inside, according to a lawsuit filed by the woman's family.

Typical anti-gun refrain: "We don't need the Second Amendment. We have police to protect us now!" Then I say, "What's the point of limiting guns to those who lack the will to use them for your protection?"

The reality is police carry guns for one reason only: To protect themselves. Not to protect you. Police presence does not negate the need for you to protect yourself. In fact, police have no legal obligation to protect you. If you want protection, you must provide it for yourself.

One more gun free zone and why I am now a Walmart shopper.

Anyone who lives in Oklahoma City should be familiar with the Buy For Less chain of grocery stores. They've been around for quite a while and they're one of the few locally owned businesses to survive the onslaught of Walmart.

On my latest trip, I discovered a new policy of theirs:


To their credit, they have provided armed security inside of the store. However, once you're outside the store, no security is provided. You're on your own between their door and your car door.

So rather than break the rules and continue carrying my weapons into the store or inconvenience myself by disarming in the parking lot, I will shop at my local Walmart where such a sign is not posted. And i will encourage my gun carrying friends to do the same.

Twelve people have been killed and 25 injured by a gunman who opened fire in west Cumbria.

Any bets on what knee jerk reaction will be taken? The UK already has some of the most oppressive gun control legislation in the western world. You'd have to live in communist China to have more restrictive gun laws.

More importantly, what kind of gun was used? Surely, you'd have to have a rapid-fire, "assault weapon" with a "high capacity" magazine to kill that many people. Oh wait, considering the entire nation of the UK has been rendered defenseless by the prohibition of the right to carry, I imagine you could take your time picking people off with even the most sporting of arms without worrying about anyone fighting back.

And lastly, will American gun control groups use this event to advocate further erosion of our Second Amendment rights?

Deploy National Guard in Chicago?

Of noteworthiness is Snuffy Pfleger's comment of, "Let's stop looking for government to come in and do what we're not doing ourselves first." I wonder if he will remember that the next time he gets on the cross campaigning against people's 2nd Amendment rights?

Also noteworthy, is Victor Woods comment concerning the fear of further alienating "young black boys" by calling in the National Guard. Umm... Call me crazy, but if I were a citizen of the south side of Chicago, my fear of being killed would far outweigh the fear of alienating those who would want to kill me. Like they say Mr. Woods, if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. And indeed you are.

"Community organizers" like Mr. Woods, Jesse Jackson, Snuffy Pfleger, and President Obama are part of the cultural problem in Chicago. Their blame passing (whether it's blaming schools or gun owners in other states) is the reason Chicago is in the mess it is in. Chicago needs more community leaders. People who are willing to stand up and say to the criminals, "You are the problem and we are no longer supply you with advocates, lawyers, and forgiveness. When you commit a crime, we're going to make sure you do all of the time. And when you get out, you're not welcome back."

Every time there is a high profile shooting or gun related event in Oklahoma a certain expert by the name of "former FBI agent Jeff Jenkins" pops up to give his commentary. You can watch him in these videos:

Now why would Jeff Jenkins have a problem with legally armed civilians in a mall?

Aside from being a typical ex-FBI, "only one", he is also the owner of Technical Innovative Concepts, a security consulting firm.

Could there be a conflict of interests on his part? Looking at a list of his clients, most if not all of them are "gun free zones". "Gun free zones" he was paid to create. He pretty much has to say that "gun free zones" work and that armed citizens will make a bad situation worse, otherwise he'd be admitting that his customers may not be getting their money's worth.

Keep watching for Jeff Jenkins. I guarantee that whenever his opinion is sought, he will come down on the side that benefits his business first and foremost.

University of Colorado Concealed Gun Ban Struck Down By Court Of Appeals.

DENVER — The Colorado Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of a group seeking to allow students with concealed gun permits to carry their weapons on campus.

According to Brady/VPC "logic", blood should be soon flowing through the halls of the University of Colorado. Students will be shooting professors over bad grades. Drunken frat boys will be shooting freshmen. Classroom debates will turn into shootouts. Etc, etc.

I guess time will tell. I do know that as long as concealed carry laws have been around, no one has sought to repeal them.

As the weather in Chicago gets warmer, the body counts get higher:

Four people--including three children--were fatally shot early Wednesday and two others were critically injured when a family member from out of state showed up at the South Side home and began shooting--reportedly because "Allah" told him to kill his family.

Josh Horwitz: I hate the First Amendment as much as i hate the Second.

If anything, at least he's consistent. Perhaps Josh is envious of the fact that he couldn't get nearly as many enthusiastic, dedicated people to show up in support of his ideals.

As much as he is lamenting the imaginary dangers of armed people peacefully gathering in full compliance of the law, I guarantee that on April 19th more people will be shot in gun free zones than at all of Second Amendment rallies combined.

It's a good thing malls are "Gun Free Zones"...

Or else someone could get shot.



Unsurprisingly, two of the three suspects have criminal records:

Officers are searching for 20-year-old Daniel Jermaine Anderson, 16-year-old Michael Mayberry and 17-year-old Anton Nelson. Anderson served a short sentence in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections for possession of a controlled substance in 2008-09. Muskogee police issued a warrant for Mayberry's arrest earlier in the week on an unrelated case.

Perhaps it's time to make the "gun free zone" a less target rich environment.

More victims of the civilian disarmament brigade. Luckily, they came out on top this time.

Eleven-year-old Luis Reteguin is being called a hero after fighting off an intruder in his family's home on the Northwest Side Friday.
A man smelling of alcohol and carried a knife broke into the home at about 1 a.m. and entered Luis' mother's bedroom.

You have to be pretty bold to invade an occupied home with nothing more than a knife. Or you have believe that no one in the house is armed. Either way, I believe Chicago will be a safer place when it's citizens have the right to own handgun.

Yes. That's almost one person shot every hour.

This is the result of the "common sense" gun laws that President Obama not only supported in Chicago, but sought to "strengthen". It's also a taste of what the VPC wants for the rest of the nation. One giant victim disarmament/criminal enabling zone.

Chinese Doctor Stabs Eight Children To Death:

Eight children have been stabbed to death by a former doctor at a primary school in China.

Five other children were wounded after the medic stormed into the school armed with a large knife.
The attacker - a former community clinic doctor with a history of mental problems - has been arrested.
Six of the children died at the scene and two others in hospital.
The attacker, who is 41 or 42, had resigned from his post at the community clinic, an official said.
The school, located in Fujian province, was closed and students were sent home.
China has witnessed a series of school attacks over the past several years, which are often blamed on personal grudges or people with psychiatric problems.

Considering that there is no right to carry in China, there was absolutely no chance of preventing this event. And sadly, American children aren't much safer from such an event. Gun Free Zones are nothing more than target rich environments.

A good reason to carry on campus...

"I don't feel too safe walking by the woods," said Edwards, a 19-year-old black student from Canton. "There's woods everywhere. And somebody could be out in them, and I don't know."

School officials will be flexible with students who don't feel safe on campus? I wonder if they will be flexible enough to allow those with concealed carry permits to carry on campus?

Of course the school has beefed up "security" by adding more cameras, because no one has ever been killed on camera.
