A persistent lie doesn't become the truth.

From Common Gunsense:

We know that gun sales went up right before and after President Obama was elected. Fear is alive and well. He has said nothing anywhere to indicate that he would ban guns.

Some iteration of this statement is almost guaranteed to come up in a discussion about gun control. The truth is that President Obama has said things that indicate that he would ban guns or that he at least has the desire to do so. Here are a handful of reminders taken from some of my previous blog entries:

Lie #1: Hunting and sporting purpose.
From Barack's Urban Policy Plan:

"They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets."

Barack Track #1: No more agenda.

What it used to say:

Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

There is more:
Barack Track #2: It's back.
Lie #9: "Nothing about Obama’s candidacy or history..."
Holder's justification for a new Assault Weapons Ban...
Lie #14: "President Obama...has said next to nothing on the issue."
From the mouth of the Lightworker himself.

And today he's still saying things about banning guns:

Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.

As we say in the boondocks of Oklahoma, "Don't piss on my neck and tell me it's raining." President Obama and his administration has said things that indicate that they would ban guns or that he at least has the desire to do so.
